The Shenandoah Veterans and Supporters organization partners with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2123 to host their annual education awards ceremony. The VFW Post 2123 offers several education-related awards, including the Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award and youth scholarships like Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen. The Teacher of the Year award recognizes educators who promote Americanism and patriotism in their classrooms, with national winners receiving cash prizes and other benefits. The youth scholarships encourage students to explore patriotic themes through essays and audio-essays.
